ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
If your tooth hurts when you eat, or feels sensitive to temperature, it could be infected. Tooth infections don't clear up by themselves – they need to be treated with a root canal treatment. Platinum Dental Surgeons provides root canal therapy for patients of all ages, eradicating the infection and relieving pain and discomfort.
Symptoms that indicate you may require a Root Canal:
- Unprovoked or spontaneous pain in a tooth
- Hot and cold drinks and foods cause sensitivity
- Biting or chewing causes pain in a tooth
- Tooth loosening
- Gum swelling surrounding the affected the tooth; and
- Facial swelling.
Root canal treatment includes cleaning and disinfecting the tunnels inside the tooth. Once the tooth clears, a seal is placed inside the tunnel. After root canal treatment, the tooth may require a filling or a crown to seal the original opening used to get to the nerve and avoid reinfection.
AESTHETIC FILLING
A filling (or restoration) is often needed when there is significant decay or damage to one or more of your teeth. A local anaesthetic will be administered where necessary.
Composite fillings are tooth-coloured fillings done in one appointment. If you require multiple fillings, we do recommend spreading out these appointments to avoid the discomfort of being in the chair for so long. The dentist will be able to match your filling to a shade similar to your tooth colour to ensure that it does not look out of place. Composite fillings often last 5-7 years and may need replacing.
